Project 11

Our final project we were allowed to make a website for whatever we wanted and given basically complete freedom for the project. I decided to stick with the video game theme I used in project 10 and make a website for my guild for one of the games I play. The three pages I made were an about page with basic info about the guild, a slide show of kill screenshots, and the most recent kill video, a roster page with images and links to everyones character, and an application page with basic questions. I spent the most time on the roster page, more time than I would have liked, because it had just so many container divs I had to set up which led me to having less time for the rest of the project. I think the website as a whole is pretty successful, although I do feel like it’s missing something to add more to it.

Research Presentation: The Imagination Machine

My research presentation was on The Imagination Machine, a project created by the company Tellart that worked with the Russian airline S7 to create a game where people had to concentrate on a destination of their choice in order to win free plane tickets to that destination. I chose a light blue and white color scheme because I thought it went well with the idea of the project and images from the project.

10.3 The Finale

The final part of project 10 was to fill the wireframe with images and information about ourselves and the website. I really enjoyed making a website about myself and stuff I am interested in. I think my website turned out exactly how I had planned and turned out nicely as a whole. If I could change something I would just get rid of the bio page, add that information to the about page, and then make another page with something else.

Project 10.2

For part 2 of project 10 we had to create a wireframe for our website. I am going with the video game theme so I picked a bright green, red, and black color scheme. The about page will have general information about me and video games along with a slideshow of some in game images and then below information about a couple games. I didn’t have time to create a bio page but it will be more or less the same setup as the about page, but talk about more of my personality and my upbringings. The gallery page will feature a few images of art that are game themed or have a fantasy feel to them and then 2 videos, one about me that I made for my moving images class and then a video edit of gameplay. I really like the layout and color scheme I have going so far, it took a lot longer than I thought to get the layout and header set up but now that I have it creating the bio page should be quick work.

Project 10.1

Project 10 is a website for ourselves where we talk about ourselves and include the work that relates to how we describe ourselves. Part one was to just make a table with a bunch of words that describe us, relate to us, or are important to us and then categorize them into a bio page, about page, and portfolio page. I had a hard time coming up with a lot of words to use for myself, but I think the theme I want to use will work well in the coming parts of the project.

Motor Trend Recreate

Project 9 was to replace all the lorem ipsum text in project 8 to make the website have a theme and an actual idea. I already had some car images in project 8 so I decided to continue with that and make a sort of different version of the popular magazine Motor Trend’s website. I had a lot of difficulty getting the sprite image to work and show up so I ended up spending the majority of my time trying to get that in the site. If I had more time I wanted to make the product images have pop up windows when clicked on that showed a larger image of the car, which required java script, so if I had maybe one more day to work on that I would be more satisfied with my website.

960 Grid

Project 8 was to re-create and improve on project 7 by using the 960 grid system. I think using the grid system helped make the website look a lot cleaner and more organized and it was easier to place the containers where I wanted them with the grid system. What I struggle the most with is adding more to the home/about page because it’s just a mental thing where I know I need more but adding more empty boxes just doesn’t seem right to me.
